Welcome to The Pause.Â
I’m Steph, writer, editor, producer, and podcaster. I'm also a perimenopausal single mom with ADHD.
I've created this community because I believe that midlife is an opening, and that as creative women, it can serve as a portal back to ourselves. This season can feel disruptive, clarifying, creative, and confusing all at once. We deserve spaces that meet us where we are, out in the open. My work is dedicated to amplifying women's voices, curating their stories, and building the kind of community where we can nurture ourselves alongside our creative projects.
So, why "The Pause?" Aside from the peri + menopause era, I think the pause is also a quiet place to find ourselves again, to adjust the pace, to give ourselves permission to tune into our voices and wisdom. I believe our creativity lives in that pause.
In The Pause, you’ll find a creative community for midlife women who want depth, momentum, and real connection. You can join our membership community, find drop-in workshops and writing courses, or work 1:1 with me.
On the Peri-Normal podcast, we have honest conversations about perimenopause, neurodivergence, identity shifts, and what it feels like to advocate for ourselves during midlife.
In my Substack column, The Reclamation Era, I write about the intersection of midlife, neurodivergence, and single parenthood. Yep, it's a wild ride.
And through Listen to Your Mother Boulder, we gather in person to celebrate the power of storytelling to bring us together.Â
All of my work is connected by this lighthouse: I believe midlife women are powerful, our stories are important, and we are stronger when we create in community. However you choose to join in, you are welcome here.Â

Listen to Your Mother Boulder is the live storytelling event that gives motherhood a microphone. In honor of Mother's Day, local writers take the stage to share their original stories about motherhood: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Each show takes the audience on a well-crafted journey with humor, poignant moments, and lots of nods of recognition. This year's show is on Saturday, May 9th at 7 pm, and will be live-streamed for folks who live out of town.Â
